Valve used Meet the Heavy to test the facial animation system the studio was developing for Team Fortress 2. According to Walker, the new system "allowed our characters to have a much greater range of expressions than we were able to do in Half-Life We wanted a test case for that". The resulting technology produced in the creation of the Meet the Team series now appears in the game when played on the highest graphical settings.
Walker recalled that team's pleasure about "the expression on the Heavy at the end when he's shooting and screaming" was not fake, and was not just "this thing that the coolest bit in [the movie] was something that would happen in the game.
The short was also shown to a user from the Steam Users' Forum upon his visit to Valve 's head offices in Bellevue, Washington. Source Filmmaker Main article: Source Filmmaker Source Filmmaker is a video creation tool that manipulates the Source Engine to animate and record various scenes in game environments. The tool has been used by Valve to create promotion videos of their video games, the Meet the Team series in Team Fortress 2 and the introductory videos for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2.
Source Filmmaker is capable of producing a wide range of cinematographic effects and techniques, such as motion blur and depth of field, and enables the use of significantly-higher quality textures for in-game models as depicted in the Meet the Team series. Both aren't trivia according to the Style Guide and thus will be removed when added.
The Heavy's heart is the largest and his health is the largest Should this be noted or not -- Mardamien24 We don't know whose heart is biggeer. The heart used in MtM as a replacement heart was merely a way of showing how powerful the Uber device is. Ryokyon I listened to it and I agree. Also in it I noticed a second mistake I had not seen in the p version. Not only is the Heavy wearing an old decal in the team pose picture, but so is the Demoman. Probably reading too much into it, but I thought it was cool.
I kinda see what you mean though - how do you notice stuff like that? At least half of the rockets in the video travel in arcs, similarly to those fired by "the matador" in Mechatheslag's advanced weaponizer. Could this be a hint from Valve, or just cinematic effects? Any relation with the AW weapon is a mere coincidence.
Just like in the clip Meet the Medic. I think the head of the Spy is an obvious reference to the movie and this information should be included in the Notes. I'm fairly sure the idea of a head in a fridge is not one exclusive to American Psycho, so it's hard to say if this is intended to be a reference to American Psycho.
Too many coincidences for me.

I've noticed that this is the first Meet the Team video in which a character is wearing a non default hat. I keep trying to add this to the trivia section, but after about 2 minutes it disappears from the page, just like ALL of my contributions.
I'm new, so the last sentence may sound stupid. Is there a validation period, or is someone angry at me? Here's what I try to add: So far, Meet the Medic is the only "Meet the Team" video that shows any character wearing a non-default hat.
In this case it's an x of y style type trivia and is not particularly notable. Meet the Spy had the sniper wearing the Trophy belt.
Hopefully I'll stop failing so horribly.
That's how a wiki works, not everyone will agree with an edit. But hopefully you'll get the swing of things. Don't be afraid to join the wiki IRC channel. While that itself isn't of note, is it of note that one of those weapons appears to be the same as those used in Trailer 1? It can be seen at 3: I don't really know weapons very well, though, so it could be that it is just an unfired rocket. When you search "" on Google Images, you can see people sticking their heads in freezers.
Along with that, there's a noise that reminded me of the critical hit sound at 0: And Valve re-uses sounds all the time, a critical hit sound in the video definitely isn't worthy trivia.
It is also noted in the article page itself. The labels on the hearts at 1: The smallest heart appears to have no label on it.

Despite the Medic believing otherwise, human ribs are actually capable of growing back when properly shortened. In the opening, when the Demoman is fleeing from the BLU Soldiers in a wheelchair, he has a bandage over the top part of his head and an eyepatch worn on top of the bandage.
Later, when the Demoman is healed by the Medic, he rips off the bandage with the eyepatch on it to reveal another eyepatch underneath the bandage. Similarly, when he is fleeing from the Soldiers in the first battlefield scene, his Stickybomb Launcher rests on his lap and is his only visible weapon.
In the second battlefield scene, the Grenade Launcher replaced the Stickybomb Launcher, but after an explosion sends him flying out of his wheelchair, the weapon that lands in front of him is, mysteriously, the Stickybomb Launcher instead of the Grenade Launcher he was just holding. In the up-close scene of the Demoman fleeing the Soldiers, the Engineer and Sniper are missing.
The Quick-Fix uses sounds from the Medi Gun. After the Heavy kills the Soldiers onscreen and continues to fire at unseen enemies, the Medic poses as in the Meet the Medic taunt.
Next to him is a Ciggy Stop vending machine, identical to the one in the Intelligence room in Meet the Spy. Since the June 17, Patcha dove will sometimes fly out of gibbed Scouts. This foreshadowed the final gag of the video, where Archimedes is left inside the Scout's chest after his operation.
It was revealed in the Source Filmmaker introduction video that the hospital battle scene is actually a modified version of Badwater Basin. The spawn that the Medic walks out of appears to be one of the exits in 5Gorgewhile the rocky hillside seems to be inspired by DeGroot Keep both were released December In some leaked developer files of Source Filmmakersome stills of an old version of Meet The Medic can be found featuring an injured Scout, Soldier, Demoman and Heavy. Concept art from the final scene can be found in the files as well.
According to an article posted on the TF2 Official Website on July 11,Meet the Medic was originally intended to be an interview-style video, similar to the earlier "Meet the Team" videos.
